Entries are currently being sought for the upcoming annual Red, White & Blue Parade in Citrus Heights this June.
“The parade is a celebration of community and we are always seeking traditional entries as well as new entries to represent the diversity we have in the City of Citrus Heights,” said Michele Saario, the City’s Event and Community Center Technician.
The parade is scheduled for June 25 this year, with entries open to civic clubs, businesses, nonprofits, band or dance teams, churches, schools, sports teams, car clubs and other groups. Saario said she shoots for about 100 entries each year.
Traditionally held on the fourth Saturday in June each year, the parade dates back around Citrus Heights’ founding — originally created as a “happy birthday” to the City, according to Saario. Several years later, in 2002, the event became known as the “Red, White & Blue” Parade, due in part to the September 11 terrorist attack.
Those interested in submitting an entry in this year’s parade are invited to pick up an application at the Citrus Heights Community Center, or fill out an application online. Entry fees run $15 for those registering by April 30.
Annual parade sponsors include the City of Citrus Heights and Republic Services.
