Sunday Funday promises free family fun in Citrus Heights

Citrus Heights’ 19th annual Sunday Funday event is scheduled for Sept. 27 this year, promising free family fun, music, a zip line and more.

“The event really is all about family, with things to do for ages two (up to) 99,” said Michele Saario, an event technician who works for the City of Citrus Heights. The 2015 event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Rusch Park, and Saario says everything will be free — with the exception of food and certain crafts.

A Sunday Funday event flier shows planned activities include demonstrations by Citrus Heights police K-9 dogs, “fun zones” for kids, pony rides, and various craft booths. Sunrise Mall also plans to have a booth offering free balloon animals and creations at the event.

Due to limited on-site parking, a shuttle will be provided from the nearby Grand Oaks Elementary School, according to the park district’s web site. The school is located at 7901 Rosswood Dr. in Citrus Heights.
