Sentinel staff report–
Only a few tickets remain for the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band’s 10th annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser, slated for March 16 at the Community Center.

The three-hour event will begin at 5 p.m., with performances from the marching band as well as the Golden State Accordion Club. The menu includes spaghetti, green beans, salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverages.

Tickets are priced at $12.50 for adults and $9 for children under age 10, Band Program Director Kathy Cook told The Sentinel. She said as Feb. 25, tickets are still available and can be purchased by emailing her at abusycook@aol.com.

Cook said proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band, to help keep the band’s program free.

Founded in 2005, the band has become known for its performances at community events around the region, annually playing at the Citrus Heights Tree Lighting ceremony and organizing a flash-mob at Walmart each December. The all-volunteer band is open to participants of all ages, with weekly band practice sessions held at Lichen K-8 School, from 6-8 p.m. each Monday.

The band averages about 20 performances in the community each year. Cook said the band is always interested in recruiting more musicians, and also is seeking more “color guard” and “honor guard” members.
