After a two-year performance suspension during the pandemic, a Citrus Heights-based band is returning with a free concert for Memorial Day.

The Capitol Pops Concert Band will be preforming at the Veterans Community Center on Monday, May 30, according to a release by the organization. The center, located at 6921 Sylvan Rd., will host the one-hour outdoor concert starting at 1 p.m. in honor of Memorial Day.

“The one-hour, outdoor Memorial Day concert will honor the service of former U.S. armed forces personnel and those on active duty around the world today,” the band said.

Interim Director Susan Hamre is slated to direct the concert, which will be the band’s first public performance since Dec. 7, 2019, the release said.

The Veterans Community Center plans to offer a hot dog lunch combination for $5. Music will be “the sounds of big band patriotic music” according to the center.
