One person is dead after a shooting at the Montage Apartments Saturday night.
Citrus Heights Police Lt. Jason Baldwin told The Sentinel police received multiple calls from the location at about 9:30 p.m. on September 25. Officers responded to the scene and located evidence of a shooting.
During the investigation, Baldwin said police saw a vehicle matching witness descriptions leave the area traveling Northbound along Fair Oaks Boulevard. Officers stopped the vehicle at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Oak Avenue where they found one victim with gunshot wounds inside the vehicle, Baldwin said.
Officers attempted life saving measures, but the victim died, according to Baldwin. He said the investigation is ongoing and police are working two crime scenes. The first crime scene is at the Montage Apartments where the shooting took place, and the second crime scene at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Oak Avenue where the victim died.
Baldwin said no suspects were in custody as of Saturday night, and a subsequent news release from the Police Department issued Sunday morning did not state whether arrests had been made, but said those involved in the shooting are believed to have been known to each other.
Authorities request any witnesses to contact the Police Department’s tip line at (916) 727-5524.
The Sentinel previously reported a separate shooting at the same location in February. A Valentine’s Day shooting at the Montage left a man with a gunshot wound to the leg in what police believed was likely a drug robbery.
