Activists rally in Citrus Heights in support of Iranian people
CBS 13 aired video last weekend showing a group of activists holding an Oct. 1 demonstration at the busy intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane. The group held signs in support of Iranian protestors, following the death of a 22-year-old woman who died in police custody in Iran. A Citrus Heights police lieutenant told The Sentinel that officers were aware of the protest and described the event as peaceful. (See video)

Councilman Miller says new tax needed for transportation improvements
Citrus Heights Councilman Steve Miller, who sits on the SacRT board, authored an Oct. 6 guest opinion published in the Sacramento Business Journal, advocating in favor of Measure A. The countywide tax measure will be on the November ballot, which if passed would add a half-percent sales tax increase across county for a period of 40 years, to fund various public transit and roadway-related projects. Obituary: Andrea (Andy) Failla (1942-2022)
Andy Failla, of Citrus Heights passed away on Sept. 23, just two days after his 80th birthday, according to an obituary published last week in The Sacramento Bee. Failla enjoyed woodworking, handyman projects, black powder rifles, aviation, red wine and visiting “any historic town.” He leaves behind three children, and was described as a “caring and genuine ‘old school’ Italian man.” (See full obituary)
