Snack Man organizing event to advocate for homeless rights
ABC 10 reported Thursday that Alfred Sanchez, known as the “Snack Man,” will host a peaceful gathering outside City Hall on Sept 14 to advocate for homeless rights. Sanchez is known for his efforts to bring snacks to homeless individuals living on the streets. (See full story)
Obituary: Joan Hironaka (1934-2022)
Citrus Heights resident Joan Hironaka passed away this summer at the age of 87, according to an obituary published in The Sacramento Bee. She leaves behind seven children, 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A “Party of Life” open for all wishing to attend will be held Sept. 17 from 3-6 p.m. in the Citrus Heights Community Center. (See full obituary)
Citrus Bowl cancelled due to poor air quality
The annual Citrus Bowl game, between Mesa Verde High School and San Juan High School, was cancelled Friday night due to poor air quality. The announcement on social media came just an hour before the game was slated to begin at 8 p.m. (See social media post)
