The Civic Minute: What’s happening at Citrus Heights City Hall? (Sept. 12)

During the Citrus Heights City Council’s Sept. 12 meeting, city leaders will meet behind closed doors to discuss the purchase of several properties, followed by a public study session regarding the upcoming switch to district-based elections. The council will also hold a public hearing regarding an alcohol sales license and will vote on whether to approve the next batch of residential streets for repaving.

Here’s a brief summary of what’s included in the 46-page agenda packet:

SPECIAL MEETING (5:30 p.m.)

• Closed session. Council members will meet to discuss the “price and terms of payment” for several residential properties on Mariposa Avenue near San Juan Park. No further details are listed, but the purchase could be related to easements needed to construct the Mariposa Avenue Safe Routes to School project. • Study Session. The City Council will hold a study session with city staff to review draft governance principles related to the upcoming switch to district-based elections. REGULAR MEETING (7:00 p.m.)

Proclamation. The City Council will issue a proclamation recognizing William “Bill” Heiser. No additional information is listed.

$1.7M repaving contract. The City Council will consider a staff recommendation to award a $1.75 million contract to Central Valley Engineering & Asphalt, Inc., for repaving a total of 13 street sections in Citrus Heights. Public Hearing. The council will consider a request from Easter’s Catholic Bookstore & Gifts for a letter of public convenience and necessity, which would allow the issuance of a Type 20 alcohol sales license. According to a staff report, the store is only seeking to sell altar wine for use during church services.

The City Council will also designate a voting delegate and alternate for the League of California Cities upcoming annual conference, as well as decide what proposed resolutions to support at the conference. The council will also hear a department report from the Community Development Department regarding a 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan Update.
