Entrepreneur workshop to be hosted in Citrus Heights

Sentinel staff report–
Have an idea you think might make a good business, or just want some help improving an existing business you operate?

The City of Citrus Heights has partnered with the Capital Region Small Business Development Center to host a pair of upcoming free workshops in Citrus Heights, targeted at helping entrepreneurs succeed.

The three-hour “Business Model Canvas Workshop” will be held on Sept. 5 and Sept. 12, at the RCMI Executive Suites, located at 5750 Sunrise Blvd. (accessible from 7921 Kingswood Dr.)

The workshops will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and will feature speaker Dan Casas-Murray.

An event description on Meetup.com says the workshop will help attendees learn the basic process for developing an idea into a working plan. The class will also cover nine aspects of business: the idea, customers, marketplace, resources, costs, funding, marketing, revenues and partners.

According to a bio provided to The Sentinel, Casas-Murray left a career in the U.S. Army and co-founded a wireless internet service provider that quickly grew to over $3 million in revenue. He later opened a small frozen yogurt and cake shop in Roseville with his wife, which expanded to three locations.

He currently serves as a small business advisor for the Capital Region SBDC and is also the founder of The Lean Innovator, which provides coaching for entrepreneurs.

Those interested in signing up for the class are asked to register on meetup.com.
