Police: One injured in rollover collision on Sunrise Blvd
A rollover collision on Friday afternoon sent one person to the hospital and closed down a portion of Sunrise Boulevard for about an hour. Police Lt. Kris Frey said one person was injured in the collision and was recovering as of Saturday afternoon.
Fox40: Mosquito species known to carry Zika virus found in Citrus Heights
Area media outlets reported Thursday that the Sacramento Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District found a dangerous mosquito species in Citrus Heights that is known to carry the Zika virus. The district has begun aggressive spraying to mitigate the health concern. (See Fox 40 news report)
Citrus Heights cops accused of lying; judge disagrees
A news outlet in Davis reported Thursday that an attempt by a defendant to challenge the testimony of several Citrus Heights police officers was unsuccessful in persuading a Sacramento judge. The defendant, Rory Taylor, sought to discredit the officers who claimed he said he wanted to shoot them with his “AK rifle” and challenged them to a “no-rules” fight. (Read more)
Citrus Heights man arrested after plowing Prius into horse trailer
ABC 7 news in Chico reported that a 23-year-old Citrus Heights man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he allegedly drove his Toyota Prius at a high rate of speed on Highway 99 and crashed into a trailer that was carrying horses. One of the four horses inside the trailer was injured, the TV station reported. (See story)
Obituary: Joseph Theron Ray (1937-2019)
Citrus Heights resident Joseph Ray passed away on Aug. 19 after battling heart and kidney issues for several years. According to his obituary published in The Sacramento Bee on Tuesday, Ray served a term in the Air Force and later retired in 1994 as a Pacific Bell lineman. He is survived by his brother and five children, along with 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. (See full obituary)
