Citrus Heights among many police dept.’s stepping back from suicide calls
An Aug. 10 story in the LA Times featured an interview with Citrus Heights Police Chief and California Police Chiefs Association President Ron Lawrence, regarding the rise in police departments opting to not respond to certain suicide calls. The article said Citrus Heights is among many police departments opting to step back from suicide calls in an effort to not unnecessarily escalate such incidents and avoid “suicide by cop” cases. Obituary: Jerry Wayne Mayhew (1941-2019)
Citrus Heights resident Jerry W. Mayhew passed away peacefully at age 78 in his home on July 21, following a long battle with Parkinson’s and heart disease, according to an obituary published in the Sacramento Bee on Friday. Mayhew grew up in Welch, West Virginia, and was the youngest of 13 children. Services with full military honors will be held on Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
