Plans to build a new Boston’s Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bar in Citrus Heights at 5511 Sunrise Blvd. continue to move forward, with a targeted opening date of early next year. But they’re not the only one with such plans.
According to an Aug. 1 update from the city, the new pizza restaurant is one of nearly a dozen new businesses that have announced plans to open in Citrus Heights.
The list includes Black Market Art Collective at 7601 Sunrise Blvd., Dos Rios Taqueria at 6970 Sunrise Blvd., Halloween City at 7010 Sunrise Blvd., Hobby Lobby at 7800 Greenback Ln., Krazy Rolls at Sunrise Mall, Rose Garden Café at 7115 Greenback Ln., Studio Movie Grill at 8501 Auburn Blvd., Just Tea It at 8516 Auburn Blvd., Tuesday Morning at 7255 Greenback Ln., and Yippee’s Play Center at 7777 Sunrise Blvd.
Boston’s Pizza spokesman Cody O’Hara said an opening date for the Citrus Heights restaurant is targeted for “sometime in early 2020.” He said the restaurant will be the first franchise to open in Northern California and will be the first in the area to feature “a distinctive new design theme.”
Boston’s Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bar has been looking to open up to five locations in the greater Sacramento region over the next six years, according to an article in the Sacramento Business Journal.
Project renderings for the new restaurant previously filed with the city include the addition of an outdoor seating area and a general face-lift of the former Logan’s Roadhouse restaurant.

The chain’s current menu includes burgers, sandwiches, pizza, pastas, ribs and other entrees.
Interior demolition was completed earlier this spring, and exterior building canopies have since been removed. No further construction work on the property has been started.
According to Greg Anderson, chief building official for the city, plans have been approved and the project is pending outside agency approval by the state department of health, water and Sacramento Metro Fire.
As previously reported, approval from the Planning Commission will not be required, as the project is categorized as a building re-occupancy.
