Sentinel staff report– Greenback Lane was partially shut down for about five hours Friday night after police said a 19-year-old motorcyclist suffered major injuries in a collision involving another vehicle.
Lieut. Kris Frey with the Citrus Heights Police Department said the collision occurred on westbound Greenback Lane around 5:43 p.m. on Friday near Birdcage Street, with responding officers finding an adult male down in the roadway upon arrival. The man was transported to a hospital with major injuries and was moved to an intensive care unit, as of the latest update police provided.
The collision involved a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a silver sedan. Frey said the driver of the sedan was cooperative with police.
As of Saturday morning, Lt. Frey said the cause of collision was still under investigation, but impairment “does not appear to be a factor.”
Frey said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, and a witness observed the man removing his helmet following the incident.
The roadway was reopened around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
