In preparation for the holiday season, leaders of the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band have announced five upcoming area performances and are inviting community members to participate either by attending the events or joining the band.
According to a recent news release from the band, the first performance will kick off on Nov. 18 with the band’s participation in the Roseville Holiday Parade, followed by a flash-mob style concert on Dec. 2 inside the Citrus Heights Walmart. A full list of events is included below:
- Nov. 18th, Roseville Holiday Parade, 10:30 a.m.
- Dec. 2nd, Flash-mob concert inside Walmart, 11 a.m.
- Dec. 2nd, Fair Oaks Holiday Parade, 3-7 p.m.
- Dec. 7th, Citrus Heights Tree Lighting, 6:30 p.m.
- Dec. 9th, Rio Linda Holiday Parade, evening (TBA)
The local marching band is a non-profit organization funded in part by its annual spring-time Spaghetti Feed and October Howl-O-Ween events. Funds are also raised through community donations and bi-annual yard sales.
The marching band now performs at more than 20 events a year in Citrus Heights and nearby communities. According to the band’s website, its all-volunteer members range in age from 7 to 87, with skill levels ranging from beginners to professionals.

Those interested in joining the band are invited to check out the band’s rehearsals on Mondays next to the Red Robin restaurant at 7990 Greenback Ln., near Sunrise Mall, from 6-8 p.m. They also have a “flag team” for those looking to participate without playing an instrument.
