Thousands of dogs, and people, will once again take over Rusch Park in Citrus Heights this April 22 for what organizers call “Sacramento’s biggest free pet event.”
According to a Pet-a-Palooza event schedule published this weekend by sponsor CBS Radio, this year’s big name performer on stage will be pop artist Ruth B, who’s hit song “Lost Boy” reached Billboard’s Hot 100 last year. The song, which features only piano and voice, has nearly 50 million views on Youtube.
The annual event is co-sponsored by the Sunrise Recreation and Park District, with 2017’s event scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, according to the park’s Recreation Services Manager Marty Buell.
Event promotional’s promise free fun for families and pets, including an exotic animal show, a “doggy obstacle course,” K9 demonstrations from the Citrus Heights Police Department, and food trucks. The event will also feature a large kids area with inflatable jump houses, slides, and other activities for kids.
Pet-a-Palooza events at Rusch Park have drawn 7,500 to 10,000 people in the past, according to the park district, although estimates are difficult to determine due to the free event not requiring attendees to check in or purchase tickets.
Rusch Park is located at 7801 Auburn Blvd., in Citrus Heights.
