Citrus Heights police said they are still investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Old Auburn Road near Sunrise Boulevard Sunday evening.
In a news release issued Monday morning, police said the collision happened just after 9:45 p.m., requiring a portion of Old Auburn Road to be closed for about six hours while officers conducted an on-scene investigation.
Police said responding officers had found a 59-year-old man in the roadway on Old Auburn Road, just east of Sunrise Boulevard, with injuries “consistent with being struck by a vehicle.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved was reportedly cooperative with the investigation and police said speed nor alcohol appear to have been a factor in the collision.
The cause of the April 24 collision is still under investigation and police encourage anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Traffic Unit Officer Barron at 916-727-5500.
As of 6 p.m. Monday, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office had not yet listed the name of the pedestrian involved.

A nearby fatal collision also involving a pedestrian occurred last August at the intersection of Old Auburn Road and Sunrise Boulevard. A total of four pedestrians were killed on Citrus Heights roadways last year, all of whom police said were later determined to have been at fault.
